Why Bentonite Clay and Diatomaceous Earth?
Let’s break it down.
Bentonite Clay is a detox powerhouse. It’s made from volcanic ash and pulls out impurities, oil, and bacteria from your pores like a magnet.
Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is ultra-fine fossilized algae. It gently exfoliates, tightens pores, and is rich in silica — which supports skin elasticity and healing.
Together? You get a deep-cleansing mask that:
Fights breakouts
Shrinks the appearance of pores
Smooths rough texture
Brightens skin tone naturally
What You’ll Need:
1 tsp Bentonite clay
1 tsp Diatomaceous earth powder
Enough apple cider vinegar or filtered water to create a paste
Optional: A drop of raw honey or aloe for added hydration
Wooden or plastic spoon (never metal – it deactivates the clay)
How to Make It:
In a non-metal bowl, combine the clay and DE.
Slowly add apple cider vinegar or water and stir gently with a wooden spoon until you get a smooth, spreadable paste.
Apply evenly to clean skin, avoiding eyes and lips.
Let dry for 5–10 minutes (don’t let it crack and flake — that can irritate).
Rinse with warm water and follow with a simple moisturizer like beef tallow cream or jojoba oil.
Tips & Warnings:
Do a patch test first — especially if you’ve never used DE or bentonite before.
Use once a week max for sensitive skin, up to twice a week for oily/acne-prone types.
Don’t use metal tools — bentonite clay loses effectiveness when it touches metal.
Final Thoughts
This mask is part of my regular skin routine when I’m dealing with clogged pores or breakouts. It’s simple, cheap, and gives me that post-facial tight + clean feeling without any lab-created chemicals or fragrances.
